In the haze over the hill shimmering in spring wind
Love of my sweetheart, it tides with the season
On white crested blue waves under crimson sunset
Love of mine, I beg you to come back to my arms
Who am I going to live for in a world without you
Love of my sweetheart, it rains with the season
On a little wet leaf falling down in the autumn wind
Love of my sweetheart, it snows with the season
Over the footprints made on the shiny white trail
My lovely one, I beg you to come back to my arms
Who am I going to live for in a world without you
As love deepens, so does loneliness

original release by Yang Hee-euncover by Separate and Together (따로 또 같이)
Love of My Sweetheart (내 님의 사랑은) is one of Yang Hee-eun's early numbers that showcase her folk style. In a young, sonorant voice, the kind you might expect from a young woman brought up steeped in traditional values, the song seems to go straight to the heart, with all its heartfelt candor completely devoid of any vocal acrobatics or commercial slickness. Like a lovelorn seamstress, she goes through scenes of beauty in nature, seeing a touch of her loved one in them, perhaps because love is one of the most natural things in our world.
The brooding melody has a quality of something pure and moving, complementing the lyrics very well. The original song's guitar and wind instrument arrangements, however, might sound a bit dated now, given the intervening time of nearly a half century. Happily though, the cover version by the folk rock band Separate and Together (따로 또 같이), whose member Lee Joo-won (이주원) composed the song, infuses a fresh multi-part harmony to the melody, creating beautiful harmonics reminiscent of the fifties and sixties vocal harmony bands such as The Brothers Four. In fact, both the mood and lyrics of this song appear to be right in line with Seven Daffodils (일곱 송이 수선화) by that band, which used to be quite popular in Korea and was also covered by Yang Hee-eun and other singers.
